Luke and his companion (Snub
Pollard) become stranded on a desert island. They survive
on rations before being captured by islanders. They are forced
to serve the Chief by fanning his multiple wives. Luke
eventually rises to become Chief of the native inhabitants.
Luke enjoys a life of leisure until he pursues the affections of a
pretty white girl, triggering a conflict with her boyfriend.
The rivalry forces Luke to flee, and he swims away to return home.
This short was filmed near San Pedro,
California, and is known for its slapstick comedy and adventure
themes common in the Lonesome Luke series.
